Polystyren is one of the oldest known vinyl polymers. Polystyrene is a polymer which has been polymerized from polystyrene monomers. The most common application for polystyrene production process is bulk polymerization. In this process high-impact polystyrene, styrene-acrylonitrile resin, general purpose (crystal-clear) polystyrene and other polystyrene types which have high brithness and high tensile strength can be produced. Polystyrene is a fragile, rigid, clear, scentless, easy-to-machine polymer. HIPS (High Impact Polystyrene) can be produced by mixing GPPS with an elastic material (rubber or similar substances). The elasticity of HIPS is greater than GPPS. HIPS is also known as “anti shock” in the Turkish market.
